The Circle
Coal grey clouds roll
through the sky.
My mind is whirling. My
heart wants to cry.
Deep in the trees is where
we wait,
Wondering what will be our
fate.
The blood is poured and now
we drink.
My thoughts are few. I
don’t want to think.
Quickly now, my heart starts
to stir.
Everything is spinning. All
is a blur.
Jumping, dancing, how fast
can I go?
The fire is giving an
incandescent glow.
Slowing now, a figure I see,
Coming out of the fire,
staring at me.
All of my thoughts are
focused on him.
My vision breaks and the
figure is dim.
Running, running, as fast as
I can,
Through the trees, over the
dam.
I cannot stop. Will it end?
I am caught in a circle that
will not bend.
